William Edward "Ed" Roark was the son of Harvey Nelson and Rebecca Jane Brown Roark. He married his first wife Sudie Tenneesee Johnson on Feb. 27,1904. They had 4 children, Robert Lee (not sure of birth year due to deterioration of headstone-died in 1906), he is buried beside his mother; Lona Lee (1905-1975), Samuel Lawrence (1910-1957), and Lucille (1911-1999) the youngest, was only 18 months old when her mother died. Sudie was born on Nov. 9, 1887 and died on June 21, 1912. She was buried at the Johnson Cemetery, Roan Mountain, Carter Co., TN.

Ed married Bertha Lou "Bertie" Dolinger in 1913. They had six sons, Thomas J. (1916-1993), Raymond "Bennie" (1920-1996), Robert Wesley (1922-2001), Everett Delmer (1924-1981), William Elmer (1924-1981), Frankie (1932-1970). They also had six daughters, Edith Marie (1914-1987), Hazel Jeanette (1918-2014), Martha Jane (1927-1992), Margaret Elizabeth (1929-2012), Charlotte Lorraine (1930-2001), and Peggy Ann (1935-2020).
