A FATAL FALL
Mr. Frank Herbst, an old resident of the Southside who for several years past was engaged in clock and watch repairing by a mis-step while out walking on the south harbor pier last Sunday afternoon, fell from the same, landing upon the sand near the water's edge. As a result of the fall, he received injuries to his spine which proved fatal. The accident was witnessed by some boys who happened to be playing near-by and help was immediately summoned and the unfortunate man was carried to his home in an unconscious state. He recovered his senses so as to be able to tell how the accident happened and to recognize those about him, but his body was paralyzed from the shoulders down, died from injuries shortly after night the following night. Dr. ?, who was called in states that the fall resulted in the displacement of one of the bones in his spine and as consequence pressure upon his spinal column.
