James William Pelfrey was born in Pike county Ohio June 3, 1928. He was the son of Ralph Vernon and Verna Griffith Pelfrey. He was preceded in death by parents, wife Ruth Irene Lyon Pelfrey, five infant siblings, one sister Arvena Schramm and one brother Paul Wayne Pelfrey. Survived by four sons, Robert, Randy, Scott and Steve; one brother Robert (Bob)and Frankie Pelfrey and one sister Nina and Denver Fraley.
Jim served in the Army-Air Corps. Returning to Ohio, he worked as a auto mechanic. He had a career as a race car driver at Columbus Motor Speedway and helping build the track. He drove the 00 Jr. He and Ruth eventually settled in Florida, a land they loved. He and Ruth are together again. Their ashes will be spread in the gulf off the coast of Little Gasparilla Island a place they enjoyed more than any other place. RIP.
