AUGUSTA An autopsy report today listed an acute and sudden heart attack as the cause of death of a 16-year-old bride of two months, Mrs. Rose Dunithan Smith, wife of Troy Smith, a Veterans Administration hospital employe. She was pronounced dead on arrival at a Battle Creek hospital at 9 a. m. yesterday.
Dr. A. A. Humphrey, Battle Creek pathologist who performed the autopsy, said that the sudden heart attack caused death, although there was no history of a heart ailment and Mrs. Smith was apparently In good health.
Joseph Hilton, village marshal said he saw Mrs. Smith and a companion. Norma Jean Gordon, running to catch the school bus to Galesburg about 8:30 a. m. yesterday, when Mrs. Smith fell to the ground unconscious.
He and several other passersby ran to her aid and she was rushed to the hospital but died on the way without regaining consciousness.
Mrs. Smith was born in Three Rivers Nov. 6. 1933. a daughter of Thomas and Opal (Wright) Dunithan, and was a senior at the Galesburg school. Surviving besides the husband and the parents, who reside one mile east of here, are three brothers, Pfc. Robert Dunithan of Wichita Falls. Texas. Erie Dunithan and Garry Dunithan, at home four sisters, Patty, Wanda, Delores and Linda, all at home: paternal grandparents, Mrs. Anna Phelps of Union City and Oscar Dunithan of Augusta; and maternal grandparents, Mrs. Florence Frye of Three Rivers and Alfred Wright of Kalamazoo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Schlueter funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Bailey of Grand Rapids officiating. Burial will be in Augusta cemetery. Battle Creek Enquirer, 6 October1950, page 16
