Mrs. Winifred Lawler, former widely known resident of Muncie, died Saturday morning at Ridgeview Manor Nursing Home, Kalamazoo, Mich. While a resident here she lived at 805 Wayne St., and was the widow of Victor Lawler, who died in 1955.
Mrs. Lawler was born in 1890 in Ross Township, Mich. She resided in Muncie 35 years, leaving about six months ago to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Machim in Kalamazoo.
In Muncie, Mrs. Lawler was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, president of the Ruby Hughes Memorial Children's Home board, and was executive director of the East Central Indiana Heart Fund.
Mrs. Lawler was also a member of the Girl Scout Council, was an American Red Cross Volunteer Worker at Ball Hospital and belonged to the Soroptimist club.
Surviving are her daughter; one sister, Mrs. Mary Youngs, Battle Creek, Mich.; two brothers, and two grandchildren.
The body will be removed from Truesdale Funeral Home in Kalamazoo to the Cathedral Church of Christ the King where the burial offices will be said at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Very Rev. Benjamin V. Lavey. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery.
The family will receive callers at the home of Mrs. Machim, 4415 Woodhaven Dr., Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ruby Hughes Memorial Children's Home in care of Mrs. Bertha Sollars, 406 Wills St., Muncie.
