RICHARD F. HESS
Richard F. Hess, 81, of 1426-19th St., Two Rivers, early Two Rivers businessman
and a retired employe of Hamilton Mfg. Co., Two Rivers, died Tuesday afternoon
at a Manitowoc hospital where he had been a patient for several months.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels,
Two Rivers, and 9 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. H. J.
Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mr. Hess was born Dec. 19, 1878, son of the late Frank and Valdurga Benzinger
Hess. He attended public schools at Two Rivers and was graduated from Two Rivers
High School.
In his youth he was employed for two years at Hamilton Mfg. Co. and then entered
the ice business at Two Rivers with the firm known as Hess & Krajeck. After the
firm was dissolved several years later Mr. Hess moved his family to Oregon. In
1919 he returned and was in charge of the dry kilns at the Hamilton firm until
his retirement in 1945.
For many years Mr. Hess was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters, Holy Name
Society and 20-Year Club of the Hamilton Company.
Besides his wife, the former Margaret Napiecinski, whom he married at Two Rivers
in 1906, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Edward Powers of Madison and Sister M.
Felicia of Techny, Ill., of the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Ghost;
two sons, Hubert of Madison and Roland of Rt. 1, Mishicot; a sister, Mrs. Mary
Linn of Kellogg, Ida.; a brother, Frank J. of Two Rivers and 12 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral chapels after 3 p.m. Friday where the Rosary will
be recited at 8 p.m.
