Mrs. Joseph Hoffman Sr. of 3001 School St., Two Rivers, who resided in the Town of Mishicot for nearly 45 years, died early Sunday morning while being removed to the Two Rivers Municipal Hospital from her home. She was stricken with a heart condition at her home Saturday noon.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. C.V. Hugo officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mrs. Hoffman, nee Regina Wachtel, was born in Two Rivers on Aug. 1?, 1876, a daughter of Andrew and Anna Gluckstein Wachtel. She attended Two Rivers elementary schools. In 1894 she was married to Joseph Hoffman Sr., at St. Luke Church, and after 10 years of residence in Two Rivers the couple took over a farm in the Town of Mishicot. Mr. Hoffman died eight years ago, and upon his death Mrs. Hoffman came to Two Rivers to make her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Behrens. The couple celebrated its golden wedding anniversary on the farm home, now operated by a son, Harold Hoffman, in 1944.
Surviving Mrs. Hoffman are six daughters, Mrs. William Breider, Mrs. Joseph Graff and Mrs. Eldon Behrens of Two Rivers, Mrs. Oscar Eis and Mrs. Rudolph Steinhauer of Rt. 1, Two Rivers, and Mrs. Reinhardt Bauer of Manitowoc; four sons, Joseph Jr., and Hugo of Two Rivers, Harold of Rt. 1, Two Rivers and Paul Hoffman of West Bend, Wis., a twin brother, Andrew Wachtel of Two Rivers, 33 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
For many years Mrs. Hoffman was a member of the Altar Society of St. Luke Church and also was active in the Golden Age Club of Two Rivers.
Friends may call at the funeral chapel where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday.
