Leah R. (nee) Loeser) Hurst, age 62, of 1220 Hawthorne St., Two Rivers,
died Friday morning, July 30, 2004, at the Aurora Medical Center, Two
Rivers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at
Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will
be the Rev. Kay S. Richter, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Leah was born July 24, 1942, in Two Rivers, a daughter of the late
Harold and Evelyn (Gagnon) Loeser. She was a high school graduate and
member of the Two Rivers Washington Class of 1960. In 1962, she was
married to Donald Hurst. Leah, like her two sisters, had a beautiful
voice and enjoyed singing with church choirs, and the Two Rivers Senior
Center Chorus. Her green thumb was evident to anyone visiting her home.
She was a member of the Two Rivers Eagles Auxiliary, Friends of the
French Canadians, and the Two Rivers Historical Society. Leah was an
active volunteer at the Two Rivers Main Street Program and at Calvary
Lutheran Church as a member of the Altar Guild, the Funeral Luncheon
Committee, and Vacation Bible School.
Vibrant and warm, with an outgoing sense of humor, friends were
plentiful. All were welcome in her home to share her interests in travel
(Hawaii will never be the same afer her annual visits.). She enjoyed
music, cooking, and NASCAR racing. Leah loved her family and adored her
grandson, Joseph; she was loved by many and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her two sons: William and Scott Hurst, both of
Madison; her grandson: Joseph; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Kay
Koach, and Teri (Robin) Wagner, all of Two Rivers. She is further
survived by a sister-in-law: Nancy (Larry) Minier, Ottumwa, Iowa; a
brother-in-law: Robert (Jane) Hurst, Manitowoc; three aunt: Bertie
Tuzinkewich, Green Bay, Norma (Don) Heimer, Oregon, and Ruth Carlson,
Two Rivers; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two
Rivers from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday evening, and at the church on Tuesday,
after 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, or the American Cancer
Society.
The family extends a sincere thank you to Dr. LaLiberte, Dr. Yetter, and
the entire staff of the Aurora Medical Center for all the kind
compassionate care given to Leah. Your kindness will always be remembered.
