Mrs. Charles Holsen, 88, former Manitowoc resident, died
Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James W. Rea,
in Milwaukee, following a lingering illness. She had been residing
with her daughter the past year.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pfeffer
Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 o'clock at St. Paul Catholic
Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Clement Kern will officiate and interment
will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
She was born Mary Koch in Kossuth in 1863 and in 1884 was married to
Mr. Holsen. They located on a farm in Kossuth. Mr. Holsen died in 1923.
Twenty-five years ago Mrs. Holsen moved to Manitowoc. She was a member
of the Altar Society of St. Lukes congregation in Two Rivers.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Rea and Mrs. Raymond Kornely of
Milwaukee; four sons, Aloysius, Charles and Alban of Manitowoc, Joseph
of Sheboygan; 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday where the
rosary will be recited a 7 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Mary Holsen (photo) of 630 South 25th street, Manitowoc,
marked her 87th birthday anniversary on Thursday and friends
and relatives called to extend greetings. Mrs. Holsen, who
lives with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. J.
Holsen, is shown sewing carpet rags, one of her hobbies. The
other is crocheting rugs. She still reads the newspaper every
day and is very interested in current news.
Mrs. Holsen, daughter of the late Peter and Mary Koch, was
married to Charles Holsen in Frncis Creek in 1885. Mr. Holsen
died in 1925. Her children are two daughters, Mrs. James W. Rea
and Mrs. Ray C. Kornely, both of Milwaukee; four sons, Joseph M.
of Sheboygan; Charles, Alban A. and Al J., all of Manitowoc.
She is the last living member of a family of 10 Koch children.
