INWOOD, W.Va. - Charles Edgar Bartgis, 64, of Inwood, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Feb. 7, 1938, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Turner and Edna Orr Bartgis.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Shives Bartgis; one daughter, Carla Jane Smith of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one sister, Jane Butler; one granddaughter; a niece, and a nephew.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Sam Smith will officiate. Private burial will be in Rehoboth United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa., on Friday.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
