George R. Hykes, 80, of rural Adel died of heart ailment at his home on March 13.
The son of Cyrus and Jennie Trovinger Hykes, he was born in Washington County, Md. on Sept. 6, 1909. He moved to Adel 51 years ago and had been a farmer. He was a member of Old Order River Brethren Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; three sons, Kenneth of Adel, David of Ankeny and Donald of Greeley, Colo.; three sisters Mary Daugherty of Green Castle, Pa., Leila Daugherty of Fayetteville, Pa. and Elva Fahnestock of Chambersburg, Pa.; three brothers , Earl of Green Castle, Pa., Edgar of Waynseboro, Pa. and Roy of Baltimore, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
