Billy Howard Cashion was born on February 16, 1928, the son of Russell Oliver Cashion Sr (1898-1969) and his wife Mary Jane (Brinkley) Cashion (1899-1962).

A member of The Greatest Generation, Billy served in the US Navy during World War II. He played football for the US Navy and after his honorable discharge from the Navy, continued his education and football career at the University of Kentucky for Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. He remained in the US Naval Reserve for 4 years after his discharge, and completed his education and his football career at Austin Peay State University.

Billy was married about 1990 to Clara -- .

A resident of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, he was 87 years old when he passed away on June 23, 2015.

Survivors included his wife; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two 2nd-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., in the Springfield Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville.
