Softly and tenderly Jesus called our beloved wife, mother and grandmother to her eternal home in heaven on June 24, 2015. Carol J. Freis was born to the late Marcella (Voss) and Hilbert Freis on May 24, 1933 in town Centerville, where she lived until her marriage to Vernon Grupe on May 24, 1952. She graduated from Pleasant Hill Elementary School on May 24, 1947, and from Kiel High School, May 24, 1951. She was a lifelong member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, and was very active by teaching Sunday School for 40 years, singing and directing the church choir, being a past member of Young Married Peoples Society, and the Ladies Aid Society. She worked for the Kohler Company for 23 years, most recently as a Secretary to the Training Dept. Mgr.

Sewing quilts for infants and toddlers was a great accomplishment for her including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her children and their families, Jellane (Jeff) Schneider, of Reedsville, WI; Judy (Adrain) Wagner of Haven, WI; Karen (Larry) Van de Loo of rural Newton; and Keith (Karen) Grupe of rural Newton. Also surviving are grandchildren, Gwen Schneider, Chris and Michelle Schneider; Dawn (Kyle) Krebsbach, Deja Van de Loo, Ryan (Jamie) Van de Loo, April (Dave) Mair, Melissa (Greg) Thomson, Rachel Grupe, Eric Grupe, John Lardinois and Nick Lardinois; eleven great-grandchildren, Lily, Marcella, Zachrey and Vincent Schneider, Chloe, Will and Noah Krebsbach, Alex and Nathan Van de Loo, and Eleanor and Isaac Mair. She is also survived by two sisters, Sandra Freis of Appleton; and Rogene (Roger) Stolson of Stillwater, Minn. Preceding her in death are her husband, Vernon; one daughter-in-law, JoEllen Grupe; and one grandson, Kurt Schneider.

Funeral Services for Carol, will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015, at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Pastor David Endorf will officiate and burial will follow at St. John's Graveyard (Kassa Cemetery) in the town of Centerville. Friends may call at the CHURCH on Monday, June 29, 2015, from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. The Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel, Cleveland, is assisting the family with these funeral arrangements. A memorial fund has been established for St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and Manitowoc Lutheran High School, In Carol Grupe's name.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt Thank you to the staff of Terrace Place, Sheboygan, Morningside Nursing Center and the Sharon Richardson Hospice, Also a special thank you to Cindy Kraemer, Carol's personal care giver for the love and kindness given to Carol and her family.
