Leo E. Kanzelberger, age 83, of 2309 Jefferson St., Two Rivers, died
Tuesday afternoon, April 25, 2000, at Two Rivers Community Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2000, at
St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the mass of
Christian Burial will be Rev. Frank Kerscher. Burial will take place at
Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Leo was born December 9, 1916, in Two Rivers, son of the late Michael
and Mary Brunner Kanzelberger. Leo graduated from St. Lukes Parochial
School and then from Washington High School with the class of 1935. On
November 4, 1939, he married the former Elmina Hamernik, at St. Luke
Catholic Church, Two Rivers. After 40 years of service, he retired from
Hamilton Manufacturing in 1974, as an engineer. He later worked for
several years at the Cawsley Company, a family business. Leo was a
member of the Good Fellowship Club, and Hamilton Management Group. He
was instrumental in the establishment of Marco Manor, a local treatment
center for substance abuse. Leo was also an usher at St. Lukes and
assisted at Funeral Masses as a server. Leo enjoyed woodworking and was
a Jack of all Trades.
Survivors include his wife, Elmina, Two Rivers; two daughters, Kay
(Michael) Glandt, Green Bay, Mary (Larry) Sipiorski, Stevens Point;
three sisters, Leona Mrotek, Wineconne, Lorraine Reinemann, Sheboygan,
Sally McDonald, Two Rivers; four grandchildren, Steven (Michelle)
Glandt, Eagle River, Christopher (Jennifer) Glandt, Maribel, Justin
Sipiorski and his fiancée, Carrie Walczak, Stevens Point, Katie
Sipiorski, Milwaukee; one great grandchild Alec Glandt, Eagle River;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was
preceded in death by two brothers, George and Richard; and two sisters,
May Kanzelberger, and Isabelle Schultz.
Friends may call at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, from 5-8 p.m. on
Friday, where a Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. led by Deacon Jim
Sustman.
Memorials may be made to St. Lukes Church for the debt retirement fund.
The family of Leo would like to extend its gratitude to the nurses and
medical staff of Two Rivers Hospital, Sister Dorothy, from St. Lukes and
Linda Bauknecht and Kathy Schleis at Visiting Nurses/Hospice.
