PORTER AT HOTEL HAMILTON, 2 RIVERS,
FOUND DEAD IN LAVATORY OF HOTEL THIS MORNING
John Kaufman, porter at the Hotel Hamilton, Two Rivers, was found
dead in a lavatory by Day Clerk Richard Danrow this morning when
the latter went on duty, death probably having been due to heart
failure. Danrow left Kaufman last night at midnight feeling in the
best of spirits. He gave every evidence of being in good health.
Kaufman was 33 and had been in the employ of the hotel for several
years. He had been married but his wife and only child died two
years ago.

DIED AT HIS TASK
Death came suddenly to John Kaufman(sic), porter at the Hamilton Hotel
Monday night. His body was found early in the morning in the wash room
by Mr. Danrow, the hotel clerk. He had been dead several hours having
fallen on his face when in the act of placing on the floor the last of
the cuspidors, which he had taken into the washroom just as the clerk
was retiring shortly after 12 o'clock. The body was removed to Boyle's
undertaking rooms and relatives notified.
John has been employed at the Hamilton Hotel for the past three years
and Manager Wood says he has always been a sober and dependent employee.
He always did his work and a little more and did it well, not requiring
to be told and he will be greatly missed around the hotel.
Decedent is survived by three brothers, Joseph of Oconto Falls, Nicholas
of Sheboygan and Peter of Mishicot and four sisters, Mrs. Chas Westphal,
Mrs. Wm Westphal and Mrs. John Batram of Sheboygan and Mrs. Bote of
Milwaukee, all of whom attended the funeral which was held from St.
Luke's Church Wednesday morning.
