MRS. KIMMES, OF A PIONEER FAMILY, DIES
Sister of Late Judge Isaac Craite Dies At Home of Her Daughter
Mrs. Ida Kimmes, 64, member of a pioneer Manitowoc county family, was found
dead in bed at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Nimmer, at Kaukauna at
5 o'clock this morning.
Mrs. Kimmes had been visiting at her daughter's home since Tuesday. The body
was brought to Two Rivers by Wiebusch and Klein, undertakers, and will be
taken to the homestead in the town of Two Rivers next Saturday afternoon.
The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic church. The
Rev. C.V. Hugo will officiate and burial will be at Calvary cemetery.
Mrs. Kimmes was a sister of the late Judge Isaac Craite, a prominent Manitowoc
county jurist of 25 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Zoe
(distorted line) in Canada and early settlers in Manitowoc county. She was born
at Five Corners Jan. 26, 1869. She was married to Matt Kimmes at Mishicot 36
years ago. Mr. Kimmes died 17 years ago but his widow continued to make her
home on the homestead in the town of Two Rivers and the farm was operated by
a son, Harvey.
The survivors are eight children: Mrs. Gertrude Koczorowsky, town of Two Rivers;
Mrs. Frances Engelbrecht and Mrs. Loretta Messman, town of Two Creeks; Mrs.
Marcella Nimmer, Kaukauna, Miss Irene and Harvey at home; and Joseph, town of
Two Rivers.
She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Fortier, Green Bay, and
three brothers, Jerome of Hollywood, Cal., Nelson of Racine and Eusebe, Milwaukee,
and 13 grandchildren.
