TO HOLD FUNERAL OF JOHN DAVITZ MONDAY MORNING.

Oak Mills, Kans., Postmaster, Died Yesterday in St. John's Hospital at Age of 79.

"Funeral services for John Davitz, postmaster of Oak Mills, who died yesterday Morning in St. John's hospital at the age of 79, will be held Monday morning from the chapel of the J. J. O'Donnell Undertaking company.
Following services here, the body will be taken overland to Kickapoo, where burial services will be held from the Sacred Heart church.
Interment will be in the Kickapoo cemetery.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Ella Davitz, he is without survivors.
He was married to Mrs. Davitz in April, 1888.
Mrs. Davitz's maiden name was Miss Ella Aaron; she is the daughter of the late John Aaron, pioneer resident of Leavenworth county.
Mr. Davitz has been in failing health throughout the last year. During the last few months he had been confined to his home. He was brought to St. John's hospital recently when his condition became worse. Bright's disease and complications were given as the causes of death.
It is believed that he was the oldest postmaster in Kansas, both in points of age and service. He had received his commission as postmaster of Oak Mills in 1878 from Postmaster General Keys. His service record was forty-four years and nine months.
Mr. Davitz was born in Germany and came to the United States when a young man.
While serving in the Germany army, he won the distinguished service cross of that country. The medal was presented to him personally in 1886 by the father of ex-Kaiser Wilhelm Hohenzollern, exiled.
After arriving in this country Mr. Davitz held numerous positions in the east.
He came to Millwood as a miller in the early days. Shortly after that he moved to Oak Mills he opened a general store, and proved himself a sound business man by making the store a big success from the start.
He also operated a farm at Oak Mills. Mr. Davitz was a frequent visitor to Leavenworth and had many friends here."
