She was born Aug. 20, 1912, in rural Sangamon County, the daughter of James T. and Pheobe Duffy Stephens. She married Alex Bain in 1948.
Mrs. Bain was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Temple Church.
Survivors: husband, Alex; two daughters, Lila L. Hohimerof Springfield and Maxine Burger of Chatham; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Velma Elmore of Chatham; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services: 11 a.m. Monday, Oak Ridge Cemetery, the Revs. Mark Johnson and Rich Hohimer officiating.
