US Congressman. He moved from Philadelphia to the suburb of Radnor Township in 1910, and then enlisted in the army during World War I. Later he became president and chairman of the board of directors of the Franklin Printing Co., which was founded in 1728 by Benjamin Franklin. James served as a member of the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners (1929-1936) and then served in the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives (1939-1947). He was then elected as a Republican to the Eighty-first and to the four succeeding Congresses, representing Pennsylvania's Seventh District. Congressman James served from 1949 until 1959 and was not a candidate for re-election in 1958.
