Genevra C. "Nevo" Klein, age 94, of Two Rivers, died Monday morning, August 20,
2012, at her home surrounded by relatives.
Nevo was born July 18, 1918, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Dr. Charles J.
and Pauline (Adams) Klein. She was a graduate of Washington High School, Two
Rivers, with the class of 1936. Most of Nevo's life wad devoted to music and art.
She was a member of the High School Band and accompanied many soloists. Nevo had
been a member of the Carmen Chorus and the Meckelberg Ensemble, while attending
Wood's Business School in Manitowoc and Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. After
working in the Art Department at Hamilton Mfg. Co for several years she attended
the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor's
degree in Art Education. She taught art in Southern Door County, Kiel, and
dedicated most of her years to the Menasha Public School system. While teaching
in Menasha, she took organ lessons at Lawrence Conservatory of Music. Upon
retirement from Menasha she returned to Two Rivers. Nevo then directed the funeral
choir at St. Luke's Catholic Church and played the organ there for many years.
She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Parish. She enjoyed spending her time
artistically decorating home-made cookies which went to relatives, shut-ins,
nursing homes and church bazaars. In addition to music and art, Nevo's love of
relatives and friends was always important in her life. She was happiest when
she could share fellowship, music, games and food with them at home with tables
decorated with her artistic flair.
(Survivors omitted for privacy.)
Nevo was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and sister-in-law: Charles
and Genrose Klein, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012, at St. Peter
the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian
Burial will be Rev. John Paul Klein, O.M.V. with burial to follow at Calvary
Cemetery, Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at St. Peter the Fisherman
Catholic Church, Two Rivers, from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
The sister of Nevo extends heartfelt thanks to Father Kevin Ori and Carol Hansen
for their spiritual help and to Margaret Klein, Peter Klein, Jilleen Bodwin, Jane
Daffner and Helen Massey for their extraordinary help and care.
