Leonard G. Allen, Lawton, PA passed away October 12, 2013. Lenny was born in the Bronx, New York, on September 5, 1932 to Susanna P. Graeme Allen (Anna) and Richard Allen, and raised in New Jersey. He married his high school sweetheart Elaine E. Batson on March 13, 1954 and moved to Pennsylvania in 1970. Lenny was a jack of all trades and usually worked at least 2 or 3 jobs while raising his family. Lenny worked for the U.S. Post Office for almost 40 years in New Jersey, Clarks Summit, Montrose and retired from the Wyalusing Post Office. Lenny was active in the Boy Scouts in New Jersey being a scout master for 25 years. He took scouts to Philmont, New Mexico and received many awards for his contributions to scouting. He was also a former President of Rush Fire Co. and an EMT. He delivered Meals on Wheels for a number of years. He drove school bus in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His children liked to refer to him as, a hobby farmer also. Len liked to read, host Super Bowl parties, travel NASCAR races, fishing in Canada, traveling to Alaska with his buddy Pete and sitting on the porch telling stories. He enjoyed visiting those who couldn't get out, whether it be at their home or in a nursing home. He is survived by his wife Elaine, children: Jim Allen (Kelly) of Lawton, PA, Patty Allen (Gary Berumen) of Wheatridge, Co., and Brenda Allen (Marshall Thompson), Lawton, Pa., Grandchildren, Cortney Allen Tyler (Mike), Dan Allen (Michelle) both from Lawton, Pa., Leeann Pettengill, Dickenson, Texas, Kelsi Berumen and Nikki Berumen, Wheatridge, Co., Robert Allen-Sapp and Devyn Allen-Sapp, Denver, Co., Great-Grandchildren: Matthew and Kevin Tyler, MaKayla Allen, Lawton, Pa., Andrew Luna of Dickinson, Texas, and Alyssa Allen-Sapp of Denver, Co. Also surviving is a very special cousin and mentor, Olive Davenport of Nashville, TN, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to invite everyone to come to Church on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 10:15 am at the Rush United Methodist Church in Rush, PA. Immediately following the service, please join the family in the fellowship hall of the Church for refreshments and to share your favorite memory.
