MRS. KOTCHI IS DEAD RESIDENCE OF MRS. SCHEUER
Pioneer of Two Rivers Dies at Home of Her Daughter
Mrs. Joseph Kotchi, Sr., the widow of the late Joseph Kotchi, who
died in this city six years ago, passed away at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Ralph Scheuer on Twenty-sixth street, at seven-thirty
o’clock on Thursday evening. Mrs. Kotchi suffered a stroke a short
time ago and never rallied from the shock. The family was well known
in this section and were also pioneers of the city.
Mrs. Kotchi, nee Mary Graef, was born at Meeme, this county, in
December, 1854 and was 74 years of age. She was married to Joseph
Kotchi at Green Bay in 1872 and six years later removed to this city
where the family have made their home since.
Eight Children.
She leaves eight children to mourn her death who are Mrs. Ralph Scheuer
and Mrs. Joseph Peashek of this city, Mrs. Emil Winters of Los Angeles,
California. John Kotchi of Antigo, Joseph Kotchi of this city, Jake
Kotchi of Milwaukee, Frank Kotchi of Mishicot and Charles Kotchi of
Chicago, besides twenty-six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Sayer of Chicago and Mrs. Herman Eckardt of
Sheboygan and also two brothers, Joseph Graef of Kaukauna and John Graef
of Milwaukee also survive her. The remains will lie in state at the
Beduhn & Goetz mortuary until Saturday afternoon, when they will be
removed to the Scheuer home on Twenty-sixth street from which the funeral
will take place on Monday morning. Requiem high mass will be held at St.
Luke’s church at nine o’clock at which Fathers Hugo, Thuecks and Niles
will officiate. Burial will take place at Pioneers’ Rest cemetery.

nine o’clock from St. Luke’s church, Fathers Hugo, Thuecks and Nilles
officiating. Burial was at Pioneers’ Rest cemetery. It was largely
attended.
