David graduated from Gilman High School, Tufts University and Bentley College. He served in the U.S. Army, 77th Infantry Division, as a technical sergeant in the South Pacific. David was a selectman and assessor for the Town of Mount Desert for several years. He was a member of St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church of Northeast Harbor. David was a member of the Northeast Harbor Masonic Lodge No. 208, Scottish Rite Bodies, Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor-Brewer Shrine Club and the Hancock County Shrine Club. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and loved the Red Sox and Patriots.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Juanita F Reed Stanley; two nieces, Susan Stanley of York and Nancy Brickley; and great-nephew, Parker, both of Boston.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Proctor.
Memorial services were held Monday, October 23, at St. Mary's Winter Chapel, Northeast Harbor, with the Rev. William J. Wood officiating. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor.
