Son of Catherine (Wigrzyn) & John Bielanski, both of his parents were natives of Poland, they married 04 Jul 1921 in Detroit, Michigan. John immigrated in 1908. Walter's paternal grandparents were Francis (Kpica) and George Bielanski. Maternal grandfather was John Wigrzyn.

1930 & 1940 Census Vassar Township, Tuscola, Michigan.

In Tuscola Co., Michigan, on 24April1942 Walter was listed as contact person on his father John's military registration card for WW2.

On 12 Oct 1942 in East Lansing, Michigan, Walter enlisted for Military Service. During WW2, he served in the Army Air Corps as a B24 bombardier, based in England.

1944 married Phyllis Jean Olin.
