Son of Nehemiah and Sarah West Ford of East Nantmeal, Chester Co, Pennsylvania. Nathan joined the Union troops when he was just fifteen. 2nd Reg't, Pa Heavy Artillery - 112th volunteers. He died at age twenty-one in Philadelphia from Scarlet Fever.

After the death of his mother when he was four, he was raised by John and Wilheleminia Hart of Eagle, Chester Co, Pa. Windsor Baptist was the family church. JTS 6-2015
