Pvt. Ragsdale was mortally wounded in action at Lynnville, Giles County, Tennessee on November 24, 1864. He died shortly afterwards and is buried in the Lynnville City Cemetery, Lot # 7. (According to Giles County Historical Society Bulletin, Vol 22, Page 85-87, July 1995). He is listed simply as a Mississippi Soldier by name Ragsdale. One other member of his regiment was also killed there on that date and one was killed there on the Confederate Army's retreat from Tennessee on December 23, 1864.

Benjamin F. Ragsdale, Enlisted on 9/1/1862 as a Private. On 9/1/1862 he mustered into "H" Co. 2nd Mississippi Partisan Rangers Cavalry. Intra Regimental Company Transfers:
* from company H to company K.
