Ottumwa--Mrs. Illyria Welch, 83, was seriously burned on the face and arms Thursday when an explosion, believed to have been caused by a gas leak, rock the building in which she lived and set it afire.

Mrs. Illyria Welch
Funeral servies were held at Ottumwa Saturday for Mrs. Illyria (Ella) Welch, 90, formerly of Burlington. She died Thursdat at Chatfield Nursing home at Ottumwa.
Mrs. Welch was instrumental in organization in Burlington of the Daughters of Union Veterans, Cecelia White tent No. 18.
Survivors include four sons, Harry C. Welch, Burlington, Earl C. Welch, John C. Welch and Hiram C. Welch, all of Ottumwa; three daughters, Mrs. Nona Seaman, Burlington, Mrs. Vera Fullmer, Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Ellen Wymore, Ottumwa.
Other survivors are 27 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; two brothers, Thomas Schooley, Ottumwa, and Dan Schooley, Abingdon; three sisters, Mrs. John Salts, Batavia, Miss Della Schooley, Fairfield, and Mrs. Ocie Sharp, Goodman, Mo.
Her husband, two sons, one daughter, four sisters and one brother died previously.
