Aaron James "Jim" Sheppard, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 01, 2015.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at Tye Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Griffith officiating, directed by Abilene Funeral Home. Viewing will be from noon until 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, 3349 N. 12th Street.

Mr. Sheppard was born April 20, 1931, in Ottumwa, Iowa to the late Purl E. and Audrey Edith Nott Sheppard.

Jim graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1948 and joined the National Guard. He later served in the U.S. Army for 4 years, U.S. Marines for 8 years and finished in the U.S. Air Force, for a total of 22 years in the Military.

Left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Audra Barnes Sheppard of Abilene; a son, Bobby Young and wife, Teddie, of Tye; three daughters, Linda Leach and husband, Alvin, of Buffalo Gap, Billie Roys and husband, Bob, of Tye, and Jayne Sutton and husband Ray of Abilene. sixteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and last but not least, his loving companions, Marley, Charlie and Sissy.

Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta Sheppard; two sons, Thomas Alan Sheppard and Robert Craig Sheppard; one daughter, Debra Lynn Schull; a grandson, Dustin Lee Harper; and two great grandsons, Johnathan Ray Crawford and Matthew Lee harper.

The family would like to thank IntegraCare Hospice Home Health for making everything so much easier. Because of them, Mr. Sheppard was able to spend his last few days with his loving family and companions.
