GORDON DALE (PAPA K, MR. K.) Passed away on Sept. 10, 2003 at the age of 70. He was born on October 20, 1932, in Puunene, Maui, Hawaii, where he lived until graduating from Baldwin High School in 1951. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served during the Korean war. He finally settled in Fremont, CA, where he lived for 34 years. He worked for Del Monte Corporation for 31 years and retired as Warehouse Supervisor. After retirement, he became an active member in the Santa Clara Kiwanis Club. Mr. K., enjoyed playing music and singing in the Santa Paula Hawaiian Choir as well as traveling. Papa "K" loved being with his family. He could always be found at one of his Grand childrens' sporting events - Football, Basket ball, Baseball, and Cheerleading competitions. Dale is survived by Betty, his wife of 47 years; daughters: Debbie (Ralph) Meredith, of Pleasanton and Gayle Kalawaia, of Newman; son Glenn (Michelle) Kalawaia, of Fremont; grandsons: Kalani, Keoki, Keoni, and Keanu of Fremont; Malosi and Michael of Pleasanton; granddaughters: Alicia and Kayla of Lewiston, California; brother Wendell Kalawaia of Maui, Hawaii, and sisters: Patricia Morse of Honolulu, Hawaii. Dale was preceded in dead by his son John Kalawaia, brother Earl Kalawaia, and sisters: Audrey Kalauu, Myrtle Kalawaia, Faith Apo. He will always be known for having the biggest heart anyone could ever have and will truly be missed and remembered by all. We love You! Me kealoha pau ole', a hui hou! (With everlasting love and affection, till we meet again). Visitation Wednesday from 5 to 8:30PM, Vigil 7PM. Funeral Service Thursday at 2PM at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward.
