After his time in active duty, he returned to Timken where he worked for 32 years. After his retirement, he was elected as a Crawford County Commissioner, where he served for ten years. Charles served on the Wynford Board of Education for many years, and was also a member of the Crawford County School Board. He had a passion for raising and showing Montadale Sheep, and found much success in this area, not only at the local level but also the national level. He was above all else a devoted, loving and supportive family man. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed sharing in all of their activities.
