For several years Seymour was a stage manager for Charles Frohman. He began his career in Edwin Booth's theatre in the 1880s. In 1898 he was appointed general stage manage for Frohman, a position he held for until 1918 and in 1927, he retired. His wife was a sister to stage actress Fanny Davenport.
