Margaret (Peggy)Whitacre Allain was the daughter of Howard and Virgina(Smith). Born in Manila. Captured by Japanese in Jan. 1942, along with parents, sister Mary (Molly), Great Grandfather Paul F. Whitacre, and Aunt Margaret. Liberated Feb 4,1945 by the U.S. Marine Corp.
Rescued March 3, 1945 by the American Red Cross on the USS Lafitte, a n American Battleship off of Leyte. Returned to USA via San Francisco.
Married Raymond J. Allain in 1954 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Lincoln Park, MI.
She had 4 children, Leslie, Laurie, Lynn, Raymond.
Worked as a Medical Assistant and Office Manager.
Great lover of animals, and kept many pets. Peggy was also an artist, and painted various vases, bird houses, and house decorations.
She was a great Historian, and followed the British Royal Family very closely. She Loved President Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, and General MacArthur.
She will be remembered by her children for having a lovely singing voice, her great style in clothing and her great beauty.
Died of Cancer 1998.
