PANA, Dec 6--Levi Aldrich, one of the influential residents of Rosemond township and Christian county, died yesterday afternoon in his late residence, one mile south of Rosemond. He had been in failing health for several months.
He was born in Whitfield, NH, May 20, 1837. In 1864 he came west and purchased the farm in Rosemond township, four miles west of Pana, on which he resided until his death. For a few months after arriving from the east, Mr Aldrich made his home with the late W A Chase in Rosemond township. Three years ago he and his estimable wife, Mary Ellen Aldrich, celebrated their golden wedding.
Mr Aldrich was a stanch temperance advocate and was identified for many years with every movement for the betterment and advancement of his community. He was a member of the board of education of the town of Rosemond and also served as a member of the board of supervisors. He was for fifty years a member of the Congregational church of Rosemond.
There survives Mr Aldrich his wife and sons---Edward Aldrich, on the home farm; William Aldrich, superintendent of the schools of Keokuk, IA, and George Frank Aldrich, a merchant of Houston, TX. He also leaves five grandchildren.
The funeral will take place in the residence Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock, with burial in the Rosemond cemetery.
