BETHELEHAM - Donie Wendel Edwards, 83, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014.
He retired from Westinghouse Electrical and Sears. He was a veteran and served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Statham First United Methodist Church and attended Bethany Baptist Church. He was a past member of Unity Masonic Lodge #36 F & AM, Classic City and Fun Time Squares, and enjoyed his hobbies with classic cars. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, William Theo and Eva Mae Roberts Edwards; three brothers, Curtis, Derwood and J. Z. Edwards; and a sister, Latrell Wood.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Voyles Edwards, Bethlehem; a son, Keith Wendel Edwards (Phyliss), Blairsville; daughter, Sharon K. McConnell (Jeff), Snellville; sister, Mildred Boswell, Cleveland; and five grandchildren, Emily Renee Edwards, Jenny Renee Edwards, Sara Rogers (Ethan), Breece Daniel McConnell (Ashlee), and Brandon Mark McConnell.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 30, at Bethany Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Homestead Hospice, 1561 Lenru Rd., Suite A, Bogart, GA 30622.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
