Joan was born June 20, 1938, in Mobile, Alabama, to Earl and Edith Siegler. They moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, and Joan graduated from high school there. After high school, she went on to nursing school in Little Rock.
When Joan married Herbert Jones, Jr, the couple moved to Blair, Nebraska. Herbert died in 1982.
In 1990, she married Robert "Pat" Kelley. He died in 1994.
Joan worked as a nurse at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska until her retirement.
Joan was a very competitive person. It didn't matter if it was Texas Hold 'Em poker or Scrabble, she always played to win.
She loved to travel, and was always looking for an adventure.
Joan E. Kelley passed away July 2, 2015, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska.
Left with memories are her two sons and her daughter, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as her husband Robert "Pat" Kelley's 8 children.
Visitation 6-8 pm Monday, July 6, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, Blair, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial in the Blair Cemetery will follow services.
Pastor Russell Foust conducted the funeral, and offered words of comfort. Organist was Clare Cowing, with musical selections "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand". Pallbearers: Christopher Sikich, Kyle Lareza, Ryan Lareza, and Sami Jones.
