Son of Richard Goucher, N.J., and Mary Ann C. Stewart. His siblings were Henry and Emma. William's mother died in 1877.

m: Florence Adella Boyles 08 April 1902, Bethany, MO.
To this union, four children were born:
-Lorena P. Goucher m: Kampe of near Calhoun, MO;
-Gerald E. Goucher, Springfield, MO;
-Ivan E. Goucher, near Leeton, MO;
-Avis Irene Blanchard livingat home when William died.

By the 1880 U.S. Census, William's father Richard, married a second time to Margaret Darthulia Alder, a widow with two sons: Johnnie Wilson,11, and Albert Wilson, 8.

William's half-siblings by his father's second marriage were: Asa "Acey" Goucher of Bethany; Susan Luvena (m. __Timberman), and Matilda Catherine (m. __Timberman), both of Montana; Dora Bell, b & d 1887; Cora Belle (m. __Woods) of Roosevelt, OK, Benjamin Harrison Goucher of Grand River; Margaret May (m. __Young) of DeKalb, IA. William's step-mother died in 1899.
