William Linn Heflin was born in Graves County, Ky. The family arrived from Clarksville,Montgomery County,Tennessee before 1860. He married Ora Davis on November 29, 1892. They had four children.

William, Ora, and the two youngest children (Thurston and Earle) moved to Warm Springs, Arkansas about 1918 and remainded there for 28 years before returning to Paducah.
Thurston returned to Paducah as a young adult
