Jerome F. Long, of Hanover, entered into eternal Heavenly rest July 10 in Baltimore after fighting a long and courageous battle since January 9, 2006.

He was the son of the late Charles and Clara (Irvin) Long.

Jerome was retired as a self employed plastering contractor and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 82nd Air Born Division, serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove and was also a member of the American Legion Post 14 in Hanover, AARP, and the Antique Automobile Club Association. He was a life member of the former Centennial Fire Company, and currently a member of the Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services, a life member of the McSherrystown Home Association, and the American Motorcycle Association.

He was the husband of Miriam C. "Teenie" (Riley) Long, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage, and surviving, in addition to her, are three children, Brenda Storm and her husband Rick of Hanover, Dwayne Long and his wife Jenny of Hanover, and Mary Ann Long of Hanover; five grandchildren, Andy Storm, Joe Storm, Emily Storm, Brandon Long, and Bryan Long; four brothers, Charles Richard Long, James "Fats" Long, and Ronald Long all of McSherrystown, and Randy Long of Hanover; and three sisters, Pauline Gasswint of Hershey, Charlene Orndorff of Bonneauville, and Joyce Tedder.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerrie Lynn Long; and a brother, Louis Long.

Interment was with full military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
