Obituary Burlington Co Times NJ June 7, 2002:
Irwin H. (Chick) Adams, 92, passed away June 5th at Mooreston Estates, Brandywine Assistant Living. He was a lifelong resident and produce farmer in the Edgewater Park, Burlington, and Delanco areas. He lived for more than 60 years on Frazier St in Burlington where he and his late wife, Florence, raised their two children.
Irwin farmed with his father, Harry J. Adams until 1965 when his father died. Irwin then decided to retire from the business. Their Delanco farm had previously been sold to the Wood Conversion CO. which built and operated a wood products factory there for many years.
During WWII, Irwin also worked part time in the war effort at the Florence Foundry. In the 1950's, he began part time school and special events bus driving with the McClosky Bus Co of Beverly. Later, he worked as a part time school bus driver for the Burlington Twp School District.
After he retired from farming, Irwin took up vegetable gardening in a big way. Until he was in his 80's, Irwin was a supplier of produce to serveral local retailers, as well as to his neighbors and their families. He was always known for his neat attractive garden and tasty produce.
Irwin was a kind and gentle man and will be missed by family members and long time friends. He is survived by a sister Vesta Adams of Punta Gorda, Fl, a daughter Elaine Hoig of Louisville, KY, a son Howard Adams of Bonita Springs, FL, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Friends and family are welcome to call at McGee Funeral Home, Burlington, 3-6pm Sun and after 10am Mon. Services 11am. Burial will be at Monument Cemetery in Beverly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimers Assoc of the Heart Assoc.
