Susie E. Shearer, 90, formerly of Makyes Road, South Onondaga, passed away at Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing on Thursday, July 9, 2015. Born in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Day) Comstock. Susie worked in the cafeteria at Walter Wheeler Elementary School for 10 years. She was an active member of Apple Valley United Methodist Church and she enjoyed tending to her garden, playing the piano, reading and spending time with her family. Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen (Barry) Jones of Glens Falls and Jane Field of Tully; two grandchildren, Alyssa and Benjamin Jones; many nieces and nephews. Susie was preceded in death by two husbands, Alvin Field and Kenneth Shearer, three sisters and one brother. Calling hours will be held Monday, July 13, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse 13205 with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
