Lorraine J. Deardorff

Stroudsburg, Lorraine J. Deardorff, born June 7, 1925 the daughter of the late Ervin and Marie Smith formerly of Dallastown, passed away on June 19, 2017. She was pre-deceased by the love of her life, her husband, Charles (Nov. 1990); and her son, Denny (July 2015), owner of Rudy's Tavern and always her favorite Marine.

Lorraine was very involved in the Lutheran Church in Freysville while raising her family and she enjoyed working with the women of the church. They held bazaars, made fastnachts prior to Lent and held soup sales to raise money for the Church. It was also during this time that she was employed for several years by the Danskin factory in York. Once she and Charles moved to Bloomsburg, she became an avid quilter while also continuing many of her earlier needlework talents.

After losing the love of her life, she moved to La Bar Village in Stroudsburg where she could be closer to Denny and his family and yet live independently and connect with others in the retirement community.

Lorraine is survived by her sister Joanne Chinault and her daughter and son, Debra and Ron; her daughter, Beth Ann Mohler, husband Rick and son Jason and wife, Krystle; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Deardorff; her daughter, Kelly and husband, Joe Quaresimo and her daughter, Abigail Deardorff. Her grandchildren, Kelly, Abigail, and Jason were the light of her life.

Prior to her death, Lorraine made it very clear that there would not be a viewing and she only wanted a grave side service at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York, where she will be buried next to her husband in the Veterans section of the cemetery.

Her wishes are being honored and this service will be held at the convenience of the family. If you wish to honor her please consider donating to a . She would be very pleased to know that others would benefit from your generosity.
