James Demarest McGinty, 84, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Born November 11, 1921, in Los Angeles, CA, he was the son of the late Lucius Frank and Dorothy (Eaton) McGinty.

A retired engineer with AT&T, he was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Robbye Daughty McGinty; and a son, Steven D. McGinty.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy (McGinty) Lee.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert W. Kirby, Jr. and the Rev. Ray Caldwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church Building Fund, 250 Mount Olive Road, Cowpens, SC 29330
