Mary Joan Hansen, age 83 of Stanton, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Hospital in Greenville. She was born May 29, 1932 in Cedar Springs, the daughter of Jacob and Lucy (Metzger) Alles. On January 27, 1951, she married Cyril Hansen.

Family was everything to Mary Jo, and she was the quintessential wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed gathering the family together. She and Cy faithfully attended the activities of their family, rarely missing a program, athletic event, concert, recital, or Grandparents Day.

Mary Jo is survived by her loving husband, Cyril of Stanton; children, Julie Black of Stanton, Eric (Nicki) Hansen of Stanton, Jane (Dave) Nelson of Edmore, and Renee (Nicholas) Kohn of Belding; grandchildren, Jason Black, Janelle (Jeff) Ferguson, Jacob (Tara) Black, Matthew Hansen, Michael Hansen, Erin (Scott) Stratton, Jill (Mike) Jamison, Andy (Jessica) Nelson, Katelyn (Joe) Bailey, Megan (Ryan) DeVree, and Christopher Kohn; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Black, Jackson and Jamison Ferguson, Carter and Crew Black, Isaiah Hansen, Dartagnan Dimit, Peyten Hansen, Lain Jamison, Sydni Nelson, and Calvin DeVree; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Bradly and Jalaine Hansen.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, June 8, 2015 at the First Congregational Church, Stanton, with Rev. Jamey Nichols officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Stanton. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Congregational Church Choir Fund.
