W.D.C. Germaine was owner, editor, and publisher of a weekly newspaper, the Traverse City Transcript, in the late 1880's-early 1890's. He also owned the Park Place Livery, and was elected and served as mayor of Traverse City from 1908-1910 and 1912-1913. He married W. Ola Hull (d. Aug. 1941) on July 27, 1895. Ola's father, Henry S. Hull (d. 1924) was President and founder of the Oval Wood Dish Company, Traverse City's largest industry until it relocated to Tupper Lake, New York in 1916.
