Erna McCallum was born June 11, 1898, at Belmond to Henry and Mary (Moehl) Mauss. She graduated from Spencer High School and was a graduate of the Iowa State Normal College in Cedar Falls. She taught school for four years.

On Aug. 31, 1924, she was married to Duncan W. McCallum at Spencer. They moved to Mason City in 1924, where they made their home.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 tonight, and from 8 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include one daughter Dr. Carol J. McCallum, Denver, Colo., one son, Robert D. and his wife, Lamona McCallum, Tulsa, Okla., two grandchildren, Curtis D. McCallum and Cynthia M. Luttrell, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers, and two sisters. (Globe Gazette, Mason City, IA, April 22, 1992)
