Charles Cockrell Sr. died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at his home.

He was 67. Mr. Cockrell was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of the University of Tennessee and retired from Combustion Engineering.

Survivors include his wife, LaFern Cockrell; a daughter Cynthia Johnson, Hixson; two sons, Charles R. Cockrell Jr., Hixson, and Max D. Cockrell, Georgetown, Tenn.; stepdaughter Kerri Parks, Harrison; stepson Steven Stovall, Jefferson City, Mo.; brother G. Lee Cockrell, Chattanooga; and one grandson.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. William Swann officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
