Joan M. Fischer, age 78, a resident of St. Mary's Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc, entered eternal life after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday evening, July 14, 2015 at St. Mary's Home.
Joan was born on September 10, 1936 in Two Rivers. She was the daughre of the late Arnold and Dorothy Turek Messman. Joan attended public schools in Two Rivers. On August 9, 1958 Joan married Dale J. Fischer in Manitowoc. She was a homemaker raising their two daughters, Cynthia and Terri. Joan enjoyed spending her time going to the YMCA for swimming and aquatic arthritis classes. She had volunteered at Monroe Elementary School in Manitowoc and also for the Manitowoc Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years: Dale "Jack" Fischer; two daughters: Cynthia (Mark) Rosolek, Milwaukee; and Terri Fischer and her significant other, Steve Rutt, Mukwonago; also other relatives and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her parents: Arnold and Dorothy Messman; and her stepfather, Eino Hippula.
A Life Celebration Social for relatives and friends will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Entombment of her cremains will in the Harmony Haven Columbarium at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
