Sarah Elizabeth Anderson Hegwood was born on September 7, 1939 in Laurel, Mississippi; she passed away September 14, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Mae and Grover Cleveland Anderson, brothers Richard and John Anderson, Franklin Joseph Hegwood, and grandson John Doss Creel.

She was a distinguished Educator that received her Bachelor and Master's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She continued her education after her retirement by attending the Lifelong Learning Institute at USM.

She was an avid reader who loved to learn and always shared her knowledge with her family, friends, former students and colleagues. She looked forward to her weekly gatherings with friends and family. She was the ultimate optimist that recognized and respected the beauty of nature and the impact that it has in our daily lives.

She was a proud member of the lineage based women's organization- National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Tallahala Chapter. The DAR is focused on historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

A celebration of her life and legacy will be observed by friends, family and loved ones at her beloved home on September 23, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
