He came to America in 1918 with his family. He grew up in New Haven, Connecticut and lived in Ohio, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs before moving to the Fig Garden Retirement Home in 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Lawrence Merman, and his daughter, Julie Sall, both of Fresno; son, Dino Parks of Los Angeles; his brother, Ben Merman of Palm Springs; three grandsons, Adam Sall of Sacramento, Ethan Sall of San Francisco, and Daniel Walsh of Dayton, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and a son, Eric Merman.
A Graveside Service will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery on Friday, July 14, 2006, at 2:00 p.m.
