Miss Emma Whitcomb was born at Beloit, Wisconsin, December 27, 1842.
She was married in 1861 to Edmund C. Briggs, he having preceded her in death seven years. To this union were born four children, three sons, and one daughter, one son having died in infancy. Both sons, Damon and Dayton were present at the funeral, the daughter, Mable being prevented from attending by illness.
Mrs. Brigg's death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mable, in Independence, Missouri, where she had been an invalid—confined to her bed for three years. Up to the time she went to Independence, Mrs. Briggs had been a resident of Lamoni for many years—where she was held in the highest esteem by everyone.
She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Funeral services were held at the E. D. Briggs residence last Wednesday. Sermon by John Smith.
